Lot Essay

The majority of the ships studies may be attributed to Martinus Schouman, also on the basis of a comparison to the studies in a smaller album, see the previous in this sale.
The studies of figures, some in interiors, some of allegories, and a number of other drawings, are mostly on wove paper, and should be attributed to other hands. This album was probably assembled in the early 19th Century.
