Lot Essay
The celebrated Dublin firm established in Stafford Street 1810 by John Mack, Zachariah Williams and William Gibton furnished Dublin Castle with a sideboard, whose related plate-railed top projected at the ends and was supported on paired and paw-footed truss pilasters. Their brand features on another table, whose projecting ends are supported on similarly trellised and paw-footed pilasters that are wrapped by Roman acanthus instead of oak (see A. Alexander, 'A Firm of Dublin Cabinet-makers, Mack, Williams & Gibton', Irish Arts Review Yearbook, vol. II, 1995, pp. 146-147, fig. I; and a table sold Christie's London, 5 April 2001, lot 243).
