Marinka

I met Marinka at Mo's 'night-club', she was very pretty and delightful. I made many drawings of her over the years, she appeared in many of my exhibitions. R B Kitaj then used her and then David Hockney, there was a sense of competition. Degas and Picasso were the imaginary judges. Marinka had a beguiling naivety, once when I was drawing her and it was getting late, she suggested drawing the curtains to keep the dark out. Beautiful days, drawings become memories on paper.
