With a rectangular top and draw-leaves above a panelled frieze with one true and five false drawers on tapering turned and boldly reeded legs with brass capped castors, stamped underneath the table top 'J.J. CAFFRY'

This table relates to Thomas Sheraton's design for 'A Universal Table' (see illustration). In The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Drawing Book, 1793, the table is described as serving the purposes of both breakfast and dining table.
