A Pair of large Japanese vases
Imari, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
Of pear shape with elongated necks and flaring foliate rim, each decorated in vivid enamels and gilt on a ground of flowering peony and kiku blooms and branches of plum on which pheasants perch, with four panels, two larger ones depicting a court scene with the Emperor and Mount Fuji in the distance, another two with a mountainous scene, the interior rim with a band of peony and plum blossom, together with a pair of wood stands pierced and carved with bamboo on four scrolling legs
Vases -- 29 7/8in. (76cm.); stands -- 24in. (61cm.) high (2)
