Of bowed outline with a red varigated marble top above a panelled frieze centred by a foliate decorated tablet and with sunflower blocks, the glazed door enclosing shelves flanked by fluted stiles with swagged column and ram's head clasps and with rosette mounted panels below on turned tapering legs with stiff leaf sabot feet, the lock stamped 'Vve P SORMANI FILS 10 rue Charlot Paris'

Lot Essay

The vitrine bears the stamp of the celebrated Rue Charlot workshops of Paul Sormani's widow and son Paul-Charles, who participated in the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1878. The firm specialised in high quality interpretations of Louis XV and XVI furniture.
