The following lots were purchased by this family-run firm and stored in their dark caverns under the Quartier des Chartrons until being released into Christie's care.
THE 1962 VINTAGE IN BORDEAUX ****
"Thouroughly upstaged by the quality, the sheer bravado of the preceding year. But because the 1961 vintage was very small and, in the light of the times, very expensive, the abundant crop of the very good 1962s following a satisfactory growing season, proved useful. I have always liked this now somewhat underrated and largely overlooked vintage. It was particularly successful in Pomerol. First tasted in October 1964; the bulk of some very considerable notes were made in the 1970s and the 1980s. Most were at their best in the ten years straddling these two decades but many are still drinking well, and, because they are largely forgotten, and relatively inexpensive, are worth looking out for at auction or from specialist merchants and brokers. ****" MB, Vintage Wine
