"Impressively ripe and dense spicy pinot fruit aromas are framed in obvious wood spice with big, rich, intense, relatively finely detailed flavors that display quite a bit of oak on the long, dramatic finish. This is better balanced and the wood is better integrated than it is in the '95 Charmes and though both exhibit more oak than I personally prefer, the Griotte is easily the better of the two wines."
