An Arita blue and white gilt-mounted coffee-urn,
late 17th Century, the mounts 18th Century
The conical sides decorated in underglaze blue with ho-o birds among peonies and pomegranates, partly repeated on the slightly domed cover with knop finial, the loop handle painted with scrolling foliage, mounted with a gilt tap modelled as a mythical beast, the hinge connecting the cover and handle surmounted by an eagle, the rim with a row of acanthus leaves (rim chip, cracks, one acanthus leaf missing)
