"Amusingly, Harry Waugh, a year earlier (1966) said that it 'surpasses Lafite', and Eduard Cruse proclaimed it the best of all first growths' My own first note was made in 1970; 'soft velvety with Mouton-like Cabernet scent; opulent wine at its peak'. Two more excellent notes in the mid-1970s but only one since then, a superb 6-stars bottle at Kerry Payne's tasting: very sweet, marvellous depth, length and aftertaste. Alas, not tasted since tasted since June 1981 *****" MB,Vintage Wine
