A large Imari jar and cover,
Meiji period
Decorated in underglaze-blue, iron-red and gilt with two large shaped panels of ho-o birds flying with outstretched wings and long swirling tails between blossoming branches before a bamboo fence, reserved on an underglaze blue ground enriched with floral roundels and gilt scrolling foliage, a similar design repeated on the high domed cover applied with knop finial (finial repaired and related crack)
