Chambolle-Musigny--Vintage 2000
Côte de Nuits, Vogüé
In two six-bottle original wooden cases
"Sweet red berries, spices, and black cherries are found in the aromas of the 2000 Chambolle-Musigny. Medium-bodied, satin-textured, and sporting excellent depth of fruit, it is broad, candied, and sensual. This luscious wine, tasted side by side with the 2001, revealed itself to be quite similar, with the exception of a tangy note in the finish. It should be consumed over the next 6 years. The 2000 vintage is yet another success story at Domaine du Comte Georges de Vogae. After having performed an evasivage (the removal of excess buds after flowering), the Vogue team still believed they had too much fruit on the vines and dropped half of the bunches prior to véraison as they did in 2001. In the end, they harvested a moderate 30 hectoliters per hectares in a vintage where their neighbors set records. According to Millet, the fact that the yields were kept under control also served to ensure a "very healthy" harvest." Pierre Rovani, Wine Advocate #147 (Jun 2003)
