A Samson Imari baluster jar and a cover,
19th Century
Decorated in iron-red, green, aubergine and black enamels and gilt on underglaze blue, with three large panels of a moutainous bank with pavilions and pine under heavy clouds, on a blue ground enriched with scrolling flowers, below three trefoil lappets round the shoulder and a honey-comb-pattern band to the straight neck, a floral zig-zag and wave-pattern to the foot, the domed cover surmounted by large karashishi finial on rockwork (cover not matching, damaged and restored, the jar with cracks)
