Standing high above the adjoining hills between Asti and Alba, the estate's position makes it an ideal location for the production of high quality Piedmontese wines. The estate is owned by Emanuela, Antonella, and Giovanna San Martino di San Germano who manage the wine production in collaboration with Mario Olivero, their Estate Director and oenologist. Barbera d'Asti Superiore Alfiera is the jewel of the estate's production accounting for the majority of the 100.000 bottles of wine produced from the 25 hectares of vineyard. Alfiera derives its name from the small vineyard in which the fruit was grown, an historic four-hectare "sori" (south-facing cru) planted in 1937 with 4.500 vines per hectare. Highlights in the sale include 2001 Barbera d'Asti Superiore Alfiera in magnums which Daniel Thomases, writing in the Wine Advocate said "is one of the top wines in the appellation". Also included are the highly regarded Barbera d'Asti Superiore Alfiera from the 2003 and 2004 vintages
