A Hundred Poems lacquer ryoshi-bunko and black lacquer fitted box,
Meiji period, the fitted box inscribed Hyakunin-isshu makie kin hirame-ji go-ryoshi bunko (a document box decorated in gold hirame with hundred poems by hundred poets)
Of rectangular shape with rounded corners, decorated on the exterior with gold, silver and iro-e hiramaki-e, takamaki-e and kirikame on hirame ground with layers of cards from the 'poem matching game', the inner lid with gold, silver and iro-e hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, kirikame and okibirame on a nashiji ground depicting a gissha (ox cart) between two large baskets of flowers, the interior nashiji ground (minor damage to the edges)
