Lot Essay

This jardinière is after the model made for Joséphine de Beauharnais' refurbishment of the Château de Malmaison, which is described as an 'Anthénienne de l'Impératice Joséphine' and illustrated in E. Dumonthier, Le Meuble-Toilette, Paris, 1923, p. 47.
