A large German gilt-lined tankard
Apparently unmarked, Germany, circa 1885
On spreading base decorated with tied laurel alternated by lions masks stylised band of strapwork and flowers, scroll handle with lion mask, the centre highly chased with a scene of horse racing, above the inscription "Kaiser Wilhelm dem Sieger im Rennen für Offiziere des Posener Reiter-Vereins am 24.Mai 1885.", the domed cover with swirling floral panels and thumb piece en suite, and the finial modelled as horse riding attributes
