Lot Essay

The confident, fluid carving and exceptional finish of this bottle suggest that it was made in Beijing as part of a distinctive Imperial group of the mid-Qing period. It is stylistically related to the streaked glass bottle of lot 239. See H. Moss, Snuff Bottles of China, no. 216 for a similar example in red overlay.
