A Seki School Wakizashi in Lacquered-leather Mounts
Muromachi period (16th century)
Honzukuri, iori-mune , deep torii-zori (originally koshi-zori indicating Muromachi-period shape), itame hada with midare-togari-ba, both sides carved with bo-hi (one side with battle damage), tang o-suriage with three holes, one plugged with pewter, gold habaki, 22¾in. (57.7cm.) long; kawanuri tachi goshirae with stamped chrysanthemums lacquered gold, (now mostly worn off), iron hanger straps worked with nanako ground and decorated with family crests, Nanban-style iron tsuba in fan shape carved with stylized dragons, tsuka wrapped with hemp and lacquered gold (now mostly worn away), silver mekugi, menuki iron formed as a star constellation, deer skin hangers, 17th century
