Sugata [configuration]: hira-zukuri, iori-mune with slight curvature
Kitae [forging pattern]: ko-itame with some mokume in ji-nie
Hamon [tempering pattern]: suguha near the hamachi and turning to notare on the omote and notare-midare on the ura
Nakago [tang]: slightly shortened with three holes (one filled)
Nagasa [length from tip to beginning of tang]: 11 3/8in. (28.9cm.) Motohaba [width at start of tempered edge]: 1¼in. (3.2cm.)
Habaki [collar]: double, gilt-copper

18th-19th-century koshirae [set of mounts]: comprising a black-lacquer ribbed saya mounted with an iron kojiri decorated with two shaped panels containing landscapes with Mount Fuji and fishing boats in the distance in iroe taka-zogan, and an iron kuri-gata with geese and reeds and a willow beneath a moon in shakudo, gold and silver zogan; the tsuka wrapped in baleen and fitted with copper, gold and shakudo menuki formed as a bird inside a mortar and a pestle with a knife, illegibly signed An... and with a shakudo migaki-ji kozuka with the moon rising over a mountain in sukidashi-bori, iroe taka-zogan and hira-zogan, signed Ishiguro Tominsai Masatsune and gold seal; the fuchi-gashira decorated with an oxherd and ox in iroe taka-zogan against a shakudo ishime-ji ground, signed Yasuchika; copper Daruma-gata tanto tsuba designed with a landscape with cliffs and boats returning at dusk in taka-bori and iroe taka-zogan, with a shakudo fukurin, signed Ikkashi Ryuhogen Minju and kao
