Lot Essay

G Durand was the son of an important early nineteenth maker, Louis. He flourished from 1834 to c. 1860. In the 1830s he supplied, with his father, numerous pieces for the Trianon, Saint Cloud and other palaces. He was made Ebébeniste du Roi in 1839, and continued to supply the royal palaces.
