A very similar censer was included in the exhibition, Chinese Antiquities from the Brian S. McElney Collection, Hong Kong Museum of Art, 16 January - 21 June 1987, no. 158 and is illustrated in Inaugural Exhibition, vol. 2: Chinese Metalware and Decorative Arts, The Museum of East Asian Art, Bath, England, 1993, p. 119, no. 312. As with the present censer, the six-character mark has an additional character, bi, and is also inscribed on a gilt plaque inlaid in the base.
