CHANG CHUANG TONG QING FOUR-CHARACTER MARK IN IRON RED, 20TH CENTURY
The sides finely painted in a delicate famille rose palette with young children gathered around a court lady seated on a bamboo chair beside a jardinière planted with lingzhi and orchids on a rootwood plant stand, with a female attendant beside her and a garden stool and large jar filled with scrolls and other scholars' articles to the other side, a ribbon-tied lotus, a vignette of a wrapped qin and fan on the reverse

Lot Essay

The four-character mark, Chang chuang tong qing may be translated, 'celebrate eternal spring together'.
