FIRST SEPARATE EDITION. An abriged version of "A Plated Article," by Charles Dickens [and W. H. Wills], first published in Household Words, April 24, 1852, and written after his visit to the Copeland Pottery Works in Staffordshire. Issued by the pottery firm of Jones, McDuffee & Stratton. According to Eckel this abriged version "was clearly used for advertising propaganda, and, of course, Dickens had not the slightest connection with it." Eckel, p.209; Yale/Gimbel B221.
