All embroidered in counted stitch on fine silk gauze, the fan case, and a pair of matching purses in vibrant orange and red with bats in flight against a ground of shaded blue clouds, the fan case with a maker's instructions written in cursive script on the selvedge; the other three unmade embroidered diamond-shaped panels, perhaps for kerchief cases, all in counted stitch on silk gauze, two sides of a purse on one sheet decorated with a dense pattern of bats, in blue, purple, olive-gold and white on a black ground, the third with fret-work medallions surrounded by leaf sprays in blue, lavender, green and white on a dark olive-brown ground
