Finely embroidered in satin stitch and Peking knot on the top and the four sides with a medallion of auspicious symbols surrounded by musk mallow spandrels and angular scrolls, the bottom with a central lotus flower surrounded by further mallow sprays conjoined by ruyi heads, all picked out in shades of blue, green, yellow, coral, white and fine gold-wrapped thread on a greenish-yellow satin ground
Approximately 11½ in. (29.2 cm.) square x 6¾ in. (17.1 cm.) high

The greenish-yellow color of the satin is typical of early 18th century date. The charming informality of the decoration suggests that it was made for the private apartments of an imperial consort.
