TWO SMALL UNUSUAL COUNTED-STITCH PANELS
18TH CENTURY
Both worked in counted stitch, one comprised of two rectangular bands depicting rows of diamonds enclosing human figures, animals, cranes, butterflies, flowers and fruits; the other with a wide field of flower-bordered geometric pattern filled with ladies, cats, cranes and flowers below a geometric border filled with flower heads within key-fret borders, all in muted multicolored threads
11¼ x 5¼ in. (28.6 x 13.3 cm.) and 9 x 7¾ in. (22.8 x 19.7 cm.), mounted (2)
