Wearing a finely pleated dhoti with a sash elegantly draped over one shoulder, adorned with multiple arm bands, necklace and earrings, the hair secured with a jeweled turban, holding a ball of flowers in his left hand

This is an exceptionally large and finely executed example of its type; compare with another example similarly holding a ball of flowers, in I. Kurita, Gandharan Art, vol. II, 1990, fig. 113, p. 46. For the treatment of the robe, compare with lot 518.
