Namkha Gyaltsen (1326-1401) was a Kadam/Nyingma teacher of Tsongkhapa, founder of the Gelugpa School. It was Namkha Gyaltsen that first started the belief that Tsongkhapa was an emanation of the bodhisattva Manjushri. Various meditation traditions begun by Namkha Gyaltsen are still practiced today.
It was also said by Tsongkhapa that Namkha Gyaltsen was an emanation of the bodhisattva Vajrapani. This clay figure is in a posture similar to the wrathful form of Vajrapani, where he holds the vajra in the raised hand and the bell turned towards the hip in the left hand.
