Please note that the present print is probably an impression of the third, final state, with the adress of C. Visscher rubbed out.

We are grateful to Catherine Jenkins of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, for her help in cataloguing this work. Ms. Jenkins attributes this print to the Master IOV and will include it in her forthcoming book on the School of Fontainebleau. Apart from the present impression, she knows of three others, at the Metropolitan Museum, the British Museum, and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. There are presumably three states of this print: 1. Before the inscription R.Urbÿn In. (although no example has so far been traced); 2. With this inscription (the present impression); 3. With the address of C. Visscher (cf. the London impression).
