Lot Essay

See Malcolm Gutter, 'Through the Looking Glass: Viewing Böttger and other Red Stoneware' Keramik-Freunde der Schweiz, December 2001, nr. 114, pl. 2 for a coffee-pot of similar form but with an unpolished surface. The surface of the present lot, which has a rather satin like appearance, could have been sponged with an experimental glaze or lacquer trial.
