A MEISSEN DOCUMENTARY HAUSMALEREI BULLET-SHAPED TEAPOT AND COVER
1739, THE DECORATION CIRCA 1740, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS B.P.F. Dresden. 17.39.
Painted in the workshop of Mayer of Pressnitz with Italian Comedy figures, one side with Mezzetin looking over the shoulder of a lady showing a portrait of a man to a lady with a magnifying glass, a peacock between them, the other side with a lady seated offering a snuff-box to Harlequin and another lady smelling a rose, the foot and shoulders applied with stiff leaves, the faceted spout with gilt scrolls, the metal handle wrapped in leather, the flat cover with sprays of roses within a gilt scroll border (handle and finial metal replacements, chips to tip of spout and minor flaking to enamels)
