For a diamond-point-engraved flute of similar form, see Pieter C. Ritsema van Eck, Glass in the Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam, 1995), Vol. II, p. 83, no. 59. The equestrian figures on the present flute and the frieze of birds are both likely to have been derived from print sources, the bird frieze is reminiscent of the work of 16th century engravers such as Nicolaes de Bruin, Hans Liefrienck and Adrieen Collaert.
