Modelled by Pfränger senior, wearing traditional dress, the male figure playing a mandolin, his companion with a triangle, on scroll and shell-moulded base (his left hand, edge of pink jacket, keys and neck of mandolin restored, her lower arms and hands restored, bodice lacquered with gilding retouched, associated losses to triangle, replacement stick, slight wear to gilding)
The male Turk 8 in. (20.4 cm.) high; his companion 7 1/8 in. (18.2 cm.) high (2)

These figures are after the Meissen model by Reinicke which was based on an eighteenth century print source 'Le Turc Amoureux' by G.F. Schmidt, illustrated left. See Ernst Kramer, 'Veilsdorfer Türken', Keramos, July October 1971, No. 53/54, pp. 86 - 87 for a similar figure, and the similar example sold by Sotheby's on 5th March 1985, lot 135.
