Probably painted by J.E. Stadler, with birds and insects above flowering branches between concentric iron-red lines and below a cell-pattern border, the hinged cover cast in high-relief with figures and an angel in an Italianate landscape, with a scroll thumbpiece, the footrim with a foliate silver mount
