The cup inscribed Andenken der Sæcularfeyer am 6.n Juny: 1810. Dem Herrn Superint: und Dompredr M: Donner gewidmet: Von gesammten Personale der Königl: Soechsfl: Porcellan-Manufactur zu Meissen. in platinum script below a blue border reserved with scrolling foliage issuing from a basket of stoneware and porcelain wares, the channelled angular handle edged with purple panels reserved with pearls, the saucer with a central medallion with a classical maiden garlanding a bust of Johann Friedrich Böttger on a pedestal inscribed BÖTTGER MDCCCX, with early 18th century wares on the steps of the plinth below, before trees and within a beaded roundel, within a similar border with three baskets of wares, the shallow-domed cover with a fruiting finial with radiating stiff-leaf terminals within a green band gilt with scrolling foliage and a border of forget-me-not flowerheads, gilt line rims (minute wear to gilt rim of cup)
Together with a hand-coloured print showing the centenary celebrations titled Opfer des Dankers/am Jage der Secular-Feier der Kønigl. Porcellan Manufanctur zu Meissen, den 6ten Junïj 1810., above the inscription nach der Natur gezeichnet von Schröder. Gecïtzt von Wollmann. (2)

Lot Essay
This cup, cover and stand was made to commemorate the centenary of the founding of the Meissen factory on 6th June 1710, and was a gift from the staff at Meissen.
