Venus at the forge of Vulcan

The present painting is a reduced autograph replica of Jouvenet's painting of 1703 which was exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1704 (see A. Schnapper, Jean Jouvenet, 1974, pp. 207-8, no. 95, fig. 98). The prime version was engraved by L. Desplaces.
