The rectangular plaque painted to depict two Indian goldsmiths at work, within silver, rose-cut diamond frame, the gallery foliate engraved, fitted case stamped Hamilton & Co Ltd, Jewellers and Silversmiths, Calcutta, Delhi and Simla
Signed on the gallery Hamilton & Co Ltd.

The image of the goldsmiths is after a painting in guache which was part of a series of seventy-two paintings depicting various trades painted by a local Indian artist, circa 1850.
