Each with turned tapering fluted shaft headed by Egyptian female herm figures supporting a stylised leaf-wrapped nozzle and Greek-key decorated drip-pan, on naturalistically-cast feet above a circular spreading base cast with stylised shells

Lot Essay

H. Ottomeyer and P. Pröschel illustrate a watercolour of circa 1810 with a design for a candlestick with such distinctive Egyptian herm-headed stem (H. Ottomeyer & P. Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, vol. I, Munich, 1986, pp. 326, ill. 5.1.7.).
