The pattern of gasolier was included as a gilt-bronze candlestand on plate 50 of Household Furniture, which described the chimneypiece wall of the dining-room. On the mantel of the chimneypiece was sited a portrait bust of Hope's brother (Henry) Phillip, which bore an inscription \KFillipos\k, on either side sat two antique horses heads: a classical reference to his brother's name in Greek, which means 'horse-lover'. The actual candlestands were in fact placed at the extreme left and right of The Indian Room. Hope eschewed full page illustrations for the dining-room in favour of wall elevations. A similar pattern of stand was placed either side of the stepped chimneypiece of the Lararium.
Four pairs of lacquered-brass lamps, each with frosted-glass dished shade, were supplied to William, 6th Earl Fitzwilliam (d. 1902) for Wentworth Woodhouse, Yorkshire, where they were illustrated in situ by Country Life in the Sculpture Gallery in 1924. The four pairs were sold anonymously, Christie's, London, 11 February 1999, lots 302-305 (£18,400; £18,400; £17,250; £17,250 respectively, including premium). Two pairs from this set were then re-sold, anonymously, Christie's, London, 20 September 2001, lots 7-8 (£25,850; £21,150 respectively, including premium) and two pairs anonymously, Christie's, London, 2 May 2002, lots 30-31 (£11,000; £14,000 respectively, including premium).
