The rectangular hinged top enclosing a mahogany-lined compartment, above two tiers, the central tier with four pull-out slides, between turned baluster legs, the underside branded 'C.MELLIER&CO.'

Messrs. Charles Mellier & Co. were celebrated for their fine reproductions of antique French furniture and were amongst the English manufacturers who exhibited at the 1904 St. Louis International Exhibition.
