Of rectangular outline, the base and sides chased with gold foliate scrolls on a matte gold ground with basketweave detail, within a blue enamel frame, the hinged cover set with a multicolored micromosaic plaque depicting 'Aeneas carrying his father, Anchises, accompanied by his son, Ascanius, fleeing the burning Troy', within a gold foliate and blue enamel surround, 19th century, 3½ x 2¼ x 3/4 ins., (inside cover with a later added inscription in Italian), with French hallmark and maker's mark (indistinct)
