Mohammed Abla is well known for his crowded Cairo street scenes. Whilst always slightly abstracted, most contain recognisable details. The present painting is rare as it is completely abstract, yet gives a vivid impression of such a scene. Most of this series were destroyed in a devastating fire that burned down his studio, and the present painting is a rare survival.
