A GROUP OF MAINLY ROMAN BRONZE ANIMALS AND BIRDS
CIRCA 1ST-3RD CENTURY A.D. AND LATER
Comprising a figure of an eagle with raised wings and detailed plumage, mounted, 1½ in. (3.8 cm.) high; a horse with raised right foreleg, on integral plinth, 2¼ in. (5.8 cm.) high; a Romano-Celtic horse, similar, details incised, right foreleg damaged, 1 5/8 in. (4.3 cm.) high; a horse's head with incised details, wearing bridle and decorative neck strap, 1¼ in. (3.2 cm.) high; two small vessel feet attachments, each in the form of a claw, one with the winged bust of a sphinx, the other with a winged 'bat', both 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) high; and three bird attachments, 1¾ in. (4.5 cm.) high max. (9)
