Lot Essay

We are grateful to Wendy Wassyng Roworth for pointing out that the compositions are variations of three of Zucchi's paintings in the library at Harewood House, Leeds. The paired figures are very similar, however, the poses, settings and antique sculptures differ slightly in detail from the paintings at Harewood.
