Painted with a coat of arms within a scroll escutcheon below a cherub's mask reserved on a blue ground decorated a trofei, between bands of scrolling leaves and entwined meandering foliage (crack to lower part, rim chips and minor flaking to glaze)

Lot Essay

A Sicilian albarello in a private collection, Berlin, bearing the same coat of arms and from the same set as the present jar, is illustrated by Tjark Hausmann, Fioritura, Blütezeiten der Majolika Eine Berliner Sammlung (Berlin, 2002), pp. 230-2, no. 92.
