For the engraving by Marcantonio Raimondi, see page 10 of the introduction. The inscription on the plinth translates as 'better to die than to live shamefully'.

For an Urbino dish in the Victoria and Albert Museum with the same subject, see Bernard Rackham, Catalogue of Italian Maiolica (London, 1940), Vol. II, pl. 126, no. 797.
