The case with repoussé basket top and cast urn finials modeled with stiff leaves and buds, rectangular glazed side panels, the front and rear door rails with gilt-brass repoussé mounts, the moulded plinth raised on four replaced claw and bun feet, the 7½ in. square brass dial with cherub mask spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, with sword hilt half hour markers and cross half quarter hour markers, signed 'J. Windmills London', strike/not strike above XII, matted center with ringed winding holes, probably original but restored and painted hands, the eight day movement with five substantial ringed pillars, twin gut fusees, reinstated verge escapement, hour strike on later bell and reinstated pull quarter repeat on four later bells (one lacking), the back plate engraved with foliate scrolls within a scored line border and around a cartouche also signed 'J. Windmills/LONDON', secured with two replaced steel brackets; restorations
