The stretcher-tied trusses and the flowered and acanthus-enriched volutes of this impressive table relate to those of a china-table sold at Christies, London, 27 May 1954 lot 107 and another sold at Sothebys, New York, 13 October 1994, lot 183. Plainer trusses featured on a china-table formerly in the collection of the artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti (d.1882), which was discussed in relation to another china-table that was formerly in the collection of H.R.H. Princess Margaret (sold from the collection of Princess Margaret, Christies, London, 14 June 2006, lot 871). Further related trusses also featured on a china-table with fretted rail, formerly in the collection of Henry Hirsch as recorded in P. Macquoid and R.
