The circular 13 in. diameter silvered and engraved dial, set within a pierced elongated scrolling foliage framework and surmounted by a cresting of a basket of flowers, with Roman and Arabic chapter ring, signed in the centre Peter Amyot/NORWICH, with later mock pendulum aperture, the hands now black painted, the eight-day movement secured in place with an iron crossbar, with A-form plates joined by five pillars, single line and fusee, now with anchor escapement; pendulum, the case regilt

Lot Essay

Peter Amyot is recorded living in White Lion Lane, Norwich in 1767 and subsequently at other addresses in the town. He died in 1799.
